About Raffles Community Advocates
Raffles Community Advocates (CA) is a service society in Raffles Institution (Year 5 – 6) comprising of a group of passionate and dedicated youth who want to make a difference in the world around us through speaking out, taking action and effecting sustainable change, thus helping to be the mouthpieces of the voiceless in society. CA provides a platform for members to initiate and carry out various projects with a group of like-minded peers, and our club motto “Speak. Act. Change” is something all members live by and stand firmly for.

Through our collaboration with Blessings in a Bag and Marcellie Runway in organising a school-wide clothes collection drive, we were not only involved in the collection pre-loved clothes, but also in spreading the important advocacy message we aimed to convey to our schoolmates through this initiative: that every little piece indeed counts towards something greater. We are extremely heartened by the response- the total amount of clothes collected during the short span of a week amounts to nearly threefold of our original goal. It has, undoubtedly, been a meaningful and enjoyable experience for us all.

Coupled with the love of music and performing, 4 people came together to form Greenlake. Kenneth’s husky tone lead the way with Shaun’s blue’s influence guiding the melodies, while Hong and Jared kept the pulse. Appreciating different genres of music whilst having diverse musical backgrounds, the quartet crafted their sound to make every song they play, unique. GLOWjob! is an event held at Zouk on July 20 in support of Marcellie Runway 2012: Emerge!. At GLOWjob!, we hope to raise donations for one of our beneficiaries – Blessings in a Bag.

At this ZOUK x MARCELLIE RUNWAY 2012: EMERGE! event, expect FREE ENTRY (last entry at 1am) if you bring just ONE piece of pre-loved clothing which is still in mint condition. Be it a T-shirt for adults or a dress for a toddler – anything’s good as long as it’s still wearable!

All these clothing items will be passed on to Blessings in a Bag, which works with schools, homes and communities to provide for the needs of the underprivileged, abused and medically-ill across Asia. Many of these rural people lack even basic necessities, so we want to do our best to help, one garment at a time.
